Drawn
Every piece starts as a line on vellum, by the house or by you in the Studio. The drawing is checked against the rules of the metal it will be cut from, so what is drawn can always be made.
The house
Cut from a single sheet.
Arkive
Arkive makes hair sticks, earrings and cuffs from sheet metal, each one drawn first and then cut whole.
The house keeps a small collection of its own drawings, and a Studio where you can draw yours. Brass and copper are finished by hand at our bench and arrive in the Arkive case with their drawing, sealed. Stainless steel and titanium are left exactly as they are cut: precise, cool and untouched.
Cut
The outline goes to the laser exactly as it was drawn. Each piece is cut whole from a single sheet: nothing is cast, soldered or plated, and there is no join to fail.
Finished
Brass and copper come to the bench to be tumbled, brushed or polished, waxed, and formed by hand over the mandrel. Stainless steel and titanium are shipped as the machine left them.

Cut, tumbled, finished at the bench, waxed, and sealed in the Arkive case.
Brass
Warms with wear.
Copper
Deepens to russet with time.
As cut
Cut and deburred, then sent as the cutter left them. Nothing added.
Stainless Steel
Unmoved by water and time.
Titanium
Light enough to forget.
